In May 2024, PureHaus, an award-winning sustainable house builder based in Leeds, secured £100,000 from the Business Enterprise Fund (BEF) to accelerate its mission of designing and building eco-friendly, passive homes. Since then, the company has made significant strides in its developments in Drighlington, West Yorkshire, revolutionising local housing with energy-efficient, sustainable designs.
These innovative family homes are constructed using state-of-the-art passive house technology, ensuring they generate more energy than they consume over their lifetime. PureHaus is setting a new standard for sustainable living by creating truly zero-carbon homes that provide residents with a comfortable and energy-efficient lifestyle.
Since securing the funding, PureHaus has made significant progress at its Drighlington site, with 20 homes due to be completed by December 2024. The development has seen growing interest from families seeking sustainable, zero-carbon living. Additionally, the business has successfully created 10 new jobs and safeguarded 40 existing positions, contributing to the local economy and solidifying its reputation as a leader in green building.
PureHaus is at the forefront of the UK's drive towards net zero, building homes that significantly reduce carbon emissions while providing long-term energy savings. Their approach aligns with the government's commitment to achieving net zero by 2050, setting a new benchmark for sustainable housing developments across the country.
The initial £100,000 investment from BEF, facilitated by Senior Investment Manager Doug Heseltine, has played a crucial role in enabling PureHaus to scale its operations and expand its developments. This funding has not only accelerated the build of the Drighlington site but also strengthened the company's capacity to lead the sustainable housing movement.
In addition to building sustainable homes, PureHaus runs a School of Excellence that offers specialised training in passive house construction for tradespeople and site managers. The company collaborates with local organisations to train and empower the next generation of construction professionals, helping to drive forward the UK’s green building sector.
